Designating February 26, 2002, as Women's Day in West Virginia.

Whereas, Fifty two percent of the population of the state of West Virginia are women; and
Whereas, Women are actively seeking election to the West Virginia Legislature and it is necessary for women to observe and participate in the political process; and
Whereas, The State of West Virginia appreciates the paid, unpaid and underpaid work of women and recognizes that the women of West Virginia deserve equal pay for equal work; and
Whereas, The women of West Virginia are gathered today to celebrate their achievements and recommit themselves to work with the women and men of West Virginia to secure workplace equity, legal equity and social equity for their mothers, daughters and sisters; and
Whereas, The West Virginia Women's Commission enters its 25th year under new leadership, with renewed spirit and with much work to do; therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Delegates:
That February 26, 2002, is hereby declared as Women's Day in West Virginia and all citizens are urged to celebrate the invaluable contributions of women to the success of our state.
